The Contest Is Tough, I Need Your Prayers to Win; Akpaloo to Asantehene

The Presidential candidate and founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo has beseeched Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, to push him with the needed prayers to emerge victorious in the upcoming general elections.

He joined the Awukudae Festival at the Manhyia Palace on November 20, 2024, with his wife, Mrs Adwoa Akpaloo, his Vice Presidential Candidate, Mrs Elizabeth Sam, party executives and Parliamentary Candidates of his party.

Speaking on his behalf, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party and Manhyia South Constituency Parliamentary Candidate, Kwaku Marfo said, “This constituency birthed him (Akpaloo) and bred him. He thought it wise to come take the blessings of the King and not sit aloof for other candidates to come from afar and take His Majesty ‘s blessings.”

In his submission, Akpaloo officially informed the King about his bid and requested for his blessings.

“I am contesting in the Presidential Election. Nana please pray any prayer needed for my victory. The contest is tough and I need your prayer to win.”

Otumfuo accepted to support him with prayers as he always does for all who come to him.

“I am like mother and so I receive all candidates. I pray for all who come to me. I will support you with prayers.”

He furthered that the decision on who rules the country in the next four years is in the hands of Ghanaian electorates, adding that they will decide based on policies put out by the various candidates.

“After your policy is sold, the citizens will decide who they want…I pray Ghanaians listen to you and try you.”

Otumfuo seized the occasion to emphasise the importance of a peaceful election.

“We pray to God to make everything peaceful. We have only one Ghana and by the power of God Ghana will remain.”

That notwithstanding, he discouraged against the use of insults and derogatory statements in campaigning.
