Court Clears Way for NDC Amenfi Central Parliamentary Candidate to Run
The Sekondi High Court has cleared all impediments for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central Constituency Parliamentary Candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe to run in the upcoming polls.
This was after the court granted a motion to vacate the interlocutory injunction against the candidate.
The news was shared by the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey on November 11 in a Facebook post.
“Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe is now free to contest the 2024 elections. Together, we work towards a resounding victory on December 7!”
Background
A month ago, the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana wrote to the candidate informing her of her disqualification from the race.
In the said letter dated, October 10, 2024, the Vice Chairperson in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey cited a court injunction dated May 31, 2024, for the disqualification.
The said injunction from Sekondi High Court restrained the Commission from allowing Joana to contest in the polls. It also restrained the respondent from holding herself out as the Parliamentary candidate until the determination of the case by the court.
Five individuals were said to have secured the injunction in a suit against Joana for allegedly forging her voter ID and NDC party card.
