Celestine Donkor’s Manager Goes After Boomplay Over Unpaid Royalties

Kofi Donkor, the manager and husband of gospel musician Celestine Donkor has demanded immediate payment of all unpaid royalties by the online streaming app, Boomplay.

He alleges that the Ghana office of the streaming service will be shutting down in two days, thereby the race to get their money.

He took to Facebook to make his voice heard after several attempts to get his money proved futile, he indicated.

The post published on November 5 read, “Boomplay pay us our Royalties before you close down the Ghana office on Friday!!”

In the comment section of the post, he revealed he had been receiving excuses for the past 17 months.

“They have been saying this since June last year. Is the contract about the second coming of Yesu?”

Boomplay artistes receive streaming royalties from distributors that are preferred by Boomplay.

By this, artistes can choose a distributor that is preferred by Boomplay to distribute their music. They can receive their royalties monthly and collect them from their bank, PayPal, or Payoneer.

Boomplay is an Africa-focused media streaming and download service. Developed by Transsnet Music Limited, the platform was first launched in Nigeria in 2015 by TECNO Mobile, Transsion Holdings.

It has a freemium and subscription based service; basic features are free with advertisements or limitations, while additional features, such as download for offline play and ad-free listening are offered via paid subscriptions.
