Dede Ayew Relives Ghana Football Past Glory

Captain of the Black Stars, Andre Dede Ayew has publicly reflected on Ghana’s delightful and impressive form in the football arena over a decade ago.

On the occasion of the 15th Anniversary, since the selfless and dedicated U20 Ghanaian players lifted Africa’s first World Cup title after a fierce battle against Brazil in Cairo in October 2009, he relived the past glory on his Instagram page.

“15 years ago, we made history! We brought the FIFA World Cup U-20 to Africa for the first time.”

He expressed his pride at being part of the team to make a remarkable history that can never be blotted.

“I’m filled with immense pride thinking about our exceptional squad, brilliant technical staff, and dedicated management team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.”

He eulogised the team of players and technical body that made it possible.
“To my teammates, coaches, and entire support staff, I offer my deepest gratitude. Your hard work, passion, and commitment made this achievement possible. Forever grateful for that unforgettable journey and the memories we created together.”

It comes as the country’s fame and prestige in football appears to have dimmed. As it stands, the country’s senior national team risks missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations tournament for the first time in 20 years.
