Sabronumhene Swears Allegiance to Asantehene
Sabronumhene Nana Kofi Asante Mensah has taken the oath of allegiance before Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He took it in the presence of the Asanteman Council at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, September 26, 2024, days after he was enstooled by the Sabronum kingmakers.
An advice delivered on behalf of all the council members urged the Civil Engineer by profession to honour the Great Oath and make himself readily available to the services of the Monarch.
“The Manhyia Palace is where we serve and it is our school. Over here you will learn how to effectively lead your traditional area.”
In his remarks, the Asantehene disclosed the divine path his election and enstoolment followed.
“You were pre-chosen by the ancestors. You were among about four candidates and your name stood out. In a dream I was told you had sketched a development mental plan for the Traditional Area. No human told me. The ancestors did. They know your heart and thoughts and thereby your selection.”
Otumfuo further urged him to stay true and humble to his people.
Nana Asante Mensah afterwards stepped forward, took hold of the sword and declared, “I commit myself to continuing the good service of my predecessors. I pledge to lead with honesty, integrity and goodwill for the development of Sabronum. I will avail myself at all times to the services of the Asantehene and violate the Great Oath if I go against this.”
