UCC Council Chair Unilaterally Terminated VC Re-Appointment – NPP PC

The Cape Coast North Constituency Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Horace Ekow Ewusi says the attempt to terminate the contract extension of the University of Cape Coast Vice Chancellor was by the sole efforts of Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Harold Amonoo-Kuofi.

According to him, it was a decision and move he undertook without recourse to the Council members.

“On 31st July, 2023, he unilaterally wrote a letter terminating the renewal of the Vice Chancellor without recourse to Council and this has generated a lot of backlash and tension on the campus,” he revealed in a petition to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo requesting for his removal.

In the four-paged petition, the Council Chairman who was appointed in February was accused of exhibiting dictatorship, staging unprovoked attacks on Vice Chancellor Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, abusing processes, disrespecting leadership, embroiled in conflict of interest and being a source of discord on campus.
