Ghana to Pay ¢95 million Judgement Debt to West Blue
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has confirmed the country’s obligation to honour a judgment debt of GH¢95 million to West Blue Ghana Limited, a business and information technology (IT) consultancy service provider.
The company took the GRA to court in November 2023 seeking GH¢289.55 million from the state after its National Single Window and Integrated Risk Management System contract with the Authority was cancelled in 2020.
The court, however, awarded a judgment debt of GHC95 million to the company.
During an appearance before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on Monday, July 29, 2024, the Commissioner-General of the GRA, Julie Essiam, confirmed the judgment debt.
She also noted that the debt would be paid in three instalments since the country lacks the muscles to pay in full.
“Indeed, the judgement debt is GH¢95 million. We will not be able to pay all GH¢95 million and therefore the agreement with the court is to pay these in three instalments.”
The country entered into a contract with the company on August 4, 2015.
