This is my Last Euro- Ronaldo

Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed the ongoing UEFA European Championship is the last in his football career.

Sure of his decision, he announced it to the media after their game against Slovenia which saw him missing a decisive penalty for Roberto Martinez’s side in extra time.

The 39-year-old visibly broken and devastated sobbed uncontrollably for his miss but got a consolation from his teammates to pull himself back together to continue the game.

He redeemed his dignity, nonetheless after scoring in an ensuing 3-0 shoot-out win that saw Portugal advance to the quarter-finals.

In his interaction with the media after the game, the Portuguese captain disclosed, “This will be my last Euro, for sure… of course”.

He added, “But I’m not moved by this, I’m moved by enthusiasm”.

The Al Nassr player also apologized to fans for missing the penalty.

“I was sorry for the fans. I’ll always give my best for this shirt, whether I miss it or not. And I’ll do this my whole life. You have to take responsibility”.

Meanwhile, coach Martinez was full of praise for Ronaldo in the post-match press conference.

“He (Ronaldo) doesn’t need to care that much and that is why I thank him for being the way he is, for caring for the group…I was certain he had to be the first penalty taker and show us the way to the victory.”

Ronaldo failed to find the net in the group stage, the first time in his career in a major tournament.

Portugal will face off with uninspiring France in their next game.
