I Have Your Back; Otumfuo to Ga Mantse
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has pledged his unflinching support to the Ga Mantse, Nii Teiko Tackie Tsuru II.
Speaking at a durbar organised in his honour by the Ga State on June 9, 2024, Otumfuo appreciated the kindness and genuine love showed towards him by the Ga Mantse in the course of his Silver Jubilee Celebration and committed himself to reciprocating the gesture whenever the need may arise.
“You joined me during my 25th Anniversary celebrations. You stayed for more than a week and it pleased me a lot. Thank you for that. You showed me genuine love so I had to come.”
“I will always have your back whenever there is the need for my assistance,” he added.
His step towards this commitment was the donation of GHC500,000 to Ga Education Fund to provide educational assistance to underprivileged Ga students.
“I don’t know if you have an education fund but if you don’t, I establish it with some donation to enable you support the underprivileged in your realm.”
His Majesty implored all chiefs in the Ga Traditional Council to also unite and support the Ga Mantse with their love and loyalty for the benefit of Accra.
Otumfuo’s speech also highlighted the need or chiefs to refocus attention to human development.
“In the olden days, Asante waged war and won territories to ourselves but it’s a different story today. Unity and development are what we seek. The war we wage today is driven towards good moral upbringings and better future for our children. Our responsibility as traditional leaders is to find better lives for our people.”
The Asantehene further thanked the Ga State for the reception.
“Thank you and your Council for this warm welcome. I thank all present here. I gave a short notice about my visit to Accra and my plan to visit you.”
