Asantehene Boosts Ga Education Fund
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has donated half a million cedis to support education in the Ga State, funding either the creation of a new endowment fund or a contribution to an existing one.
The donation was made on May 9, 2024, when Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II hosted a durbar at his Palace in Accra to honour Otumfuo.
“I don’t know if you have an education fund but if you don’t, I establish it with some donation to enable you to support the underprivileged in your realm. I give Ghc500,000 as seed and I urge all to contribute to this fund.”
As part of his remarks, Otumfuo called for the development of the youth to be made paramount as he stated that traditional authorities in the current dispensation have their focus shifted from war to human development.
“In the olden days, Asante waged war to expand our territory but it’s a different story today. Unity and development are what we seek. The war we wage today is driven towards good moral upbringings and a brighter future for our children. Our responsibility is to make the lives of our people better.”
Otumfuo also expressed his delight with the Ga Mantse for his selfless participation in his Silver Jubilee celebration which ended last month, stating it was genuine love he showed him.
“You joined me during my 25th Anniversary celebrations. You stayed for more than a week and it pleased me a lot. Thank you for that. You showed me genuine love so I had to come.”
Assuring him of his unflinching support, Otumfuo implored the entire Ga Traditional Council to give their total support and loyalty to the Ga Mantse.
Nii Tackie in his speech thanked Otumfuo for the donation and invoked the blessings of God on him and his people.
“In return for this money for the project in Ga State, I pray blessings for the Otumfuo, his chiefs and all people of the Asante Kingdom.”
