Your Prayers For Me are Invaluable- Otumfuo to Imams
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has avowed that no amount of money can be used to repay the Muslim community for their occasional prayers and intercessions for him as he has expressed his appreciation for their kind gesture.
According to him, the success of his reign hinges on the direction of God who chose and made him King and thereby the indispensability of prayer in his leadership.
He stated, during a visit to the Manhyia Palace by Sub-Metro, Municipal and District Imams of the Ashanti Region on Saturday, May 18, 2024, that he has distinguishedly and honourably reigned for the past 25 years thanks to prayers.
“No amount of money can pay for what you have done for me.”
“My position requires prayers. All I need is prayers. I always tell Nananom that I am not here because of my good looks and if I would be able to deliver on my mandate, it will take the direction of the one who put me here. Looking at how far I have come which is garnering commendations from all around, the credit goes to your prayers.
“I swore to be loyal and honest 25 years ago and I pray that God gives me the spirit to stay true to the oath. I don’t need money. To the glory of Allah, I have never taken a bribe from anyone to deliver a judgment in their favour. All I seek is your prayers and the support of Allah. I appeal to all Imams across to remember me in their daily supplications.”
His Majesty further established that Islam is an indispensable aspect of the Asante Kingdom as their relations date back years.
“Islam was intentionally brought here and now a part of the Kingdom. I receive prayers occasionally from Imams.”
