Asantehene Gifts Muslim Community Prayer Accessories
The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has gifted the Muslim community in the Ashanti Region some prayer accessories to facilitate their intercession for him.
The items including tasbihs, prayer mats and kettles for ablution were handed over to the Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Abdul Mumin Haroun, during a meeting between the King and the sub-Metro, Municipal and District Imams of the Ashanti Region on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Manhyia Palace.
They were presented by Baffour Asebe Kogyawoasu Ababio II, Otumfuo Nsumankwaahene, on behalf of Otumfuo.
“Otumfuo is pleased with the prayers you make for him. He is keen about the Islamic religion thereby his support to you. Dedicate at least one of your five daily prayers for him. Just as you said you look forward to his next 25 years reign, use prayers to make that possible. These items are all for you, distribute to all Muslims so they can make intense prayer for His Majesty.”
The group was at the Palace purposely to make prayers for the King in recognition of his Silver Jubilee.
In his remarks to the Imams, Otumfuo thanked them for their gesture as he indicated that it was invaluable.
“No amount of money can pay for what you have done for me.”
“My position requires prayers. I always tell Nananom that I am not here because I am good-looking and if I would be able to deliver on my mandate, it will take the direction of the one who put me here. Looking at how far I have come with commendations from all around, the credit goes to your prayers. I have reigned together with you.”
His Majesty further established that Islam is an indispensable aspect of the Asante Kingdom as their relations date back to years.
“Islam was intentionally brought here and now a part of the Kingdom. I receive prayers occasionally from Imams.”
