Otumfuo Woos Maltese Investors To Ghana
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has assured Maltese Investors of a serene and eco-friendly political atmosphere in Ghana in the quest to make the West African country the one-stop choice for prudent investments.
Marketing the country to the potential investors in the island country, His Majesty touched the country’s enviable credential in the practice of democracy among its African peers.
“Ghana is ready, investors from there can come here. There is a stable democracy in this country. We change our government with the ballot. We are stable and therefore investors are assured of a stable atmosphere and climate for them here… Ghana is ready and Ghana seeks investments from Malta.”
He also assured of the requisite protection, vowing, “Governments will come and go but we will remain here to protect them.”
The assurance came during a visit by the President of Malta, His Excellency George Vella to the Manhyia Palace as part of his three-day working visit to Ghana on March 9, 2024.
The President had communicated his vision to enhance his country’s trade relations and partnership with individual African countries and with Africa as a whole, adding that Ghana features prominently in Malta’s Foreign Policy.
“Malta continues to actively pursue the implementation of this Africa strategy from the year 2020 to 2025 to further enhance our cooperation with our African partners and friends. Malta is doing this by creating meaningful relationships with our African partners through intensified trade and development, through investments and people-to-people contact,” the 81-year-old said in his address.
He aspires to meaningful and tangible cooperation with Ghana not only at the political level but also through the facilitation of exchanges through Maltese and Ghana private sectors and civil society, he noted.
He also observed ample interest to further expand their relations and collaborations in sectors such as tourism and culture, climate change and environment, pharmaceuticals, education and agriculture.
The President was accompanied by his wife, H.E Miriam Vella, Malta’s Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, Secretary to the President of Malta, Ms Rosette Spiteri Cachia, Malta High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Jean Claud Galea Mallia and others.
They were led to the Palace by the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng.
