Fans Kick Against Search For New Black Stars Coach
Some football fanatics have kicked against the Ghana Football Association’s roadmap to selecting a new head coach for the Senior National male team, Black Stars.
They believe the woes of the team which reflected in their campaign in Cote d’Ivoire in the Nations Cup goes beyond a coach and thereby must be recognized.
According to them, replacing the coach will be a superficial solution to the mess and will have no impact on the deep cracks the entire country’s football is suffering.
These concerns come in the wake of the constitution of a committee to search for a new head coach for the team after relieving Coach Hughton and his technical team of their roles after Ghana’s exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament at the group stage.
These football fanatics provoked by the decision took to their various social media platforms to vent out.
Sports journalist Fentuo Tahiru wrote on his Facebook page, “Seriously, I think someone should stop the GFA from proceeding with this mediocre attempt at replacing Hughton and force them to address the deep-rooted problems that confront our football.
“This arrogance that they can just go about their business after such embarrassing output in Côte d’Ivoire should not be tolerated. It’s a stinking attitude that has become the forte of this GFA administration. Zero accountability, zero respect for the people whose taxes they went to waste in Abidjan.”
Meanwhile, Saddick Adams, another sports journalist believes it is a wrong decision to put the Vice President of the GFA, Mark Addo, on the Committee as head when his administration crashed the country at the 2023 AFCON and the World Cup tournament in 2022.
“The Chairman to lead the search for the so-called Messianic Black Stars coach, Mr Mark Addo;
Was the chairman of the Black Stars in the disastrous AFCON campaign in Ivory Coast.
He was also the Chairman of the team in the embarrassing World Cup exit in 2022 Qatar, where the management each received $100,000.
“Chairman of the search committee that brought Otto Addo and chairman of the team under Chris Hughton. Ghana Football is going nowhere. In this country, failure is rewarded.”
He has thus called on President Akufo-Addo to intervene to stop the process of finding a potential head coach to make way for a drastic approach to the problem.
“With all due respect, dissolve the committee that is to search for a new Black Stars coach.
The next coach will be paid thousands of dollars with our taxes. Respectfully ACT as a leader who cares about the image of the country. Football is one of the biggest tourism avenues.
“Hold on with the search and get a caretaker manager for the team…DISSOLVE that sham of a committee before they even start the walk to nowhere.”
“Ghana football? Hmmmm. Lol. Instead of working hard to get things right, the GFA is on a mission to find us a new Black
Stars head coach. The team to find us that person is led by the same person who brought Milovan Rajevac. I see,” another wrote on X.
