Mahama’s New Year Message Was Desperate And Uninspiring – Richard Ahiagbah

The Director of Communication of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has examined and marked down the New Year message delivered by the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Ahiagbah characterized the speech as inaccurate and born out of desperation.

“The former President came off rusty because couldn’t or refused to distinguish the role of Vice President and President. It is factually inaccurate to say Bawumia’s economic mismanagement. Bawumia is not the President.

“The other inaccuracy is the claim that this economy has been mismanaged. That view amounts to a misrepresentation of the facts. JM must tell Ghanaians the truth about the cause or causes of the present economic difficulties. The fact is that the global economy is struggling due to the grave impact of Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War,” he wrote on X.

Following his evaluation of the speech, he posited, “These are facts that the former President should not have glossed over because understanding the problem is part of the solution.”

Mr Ahiagbah’s final verdict held that “Former President Mahama’s New Year Message was desperate, uninspiring, and unconvincing… Perhaps it is time to hang it up, Sir!”

Mr Mahama delivered his New Year message to Ghanaians on Wednesday in recognition of the fact that it is an election year.

As part of his message, he offered Ghanaians what he called “hope” from economic hardships posed by the current administration and believes he has the requisite expertise to deal with it.

“We have all lived painfully through the challenges the failed Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration has inflicted on us through their reckless mismanagement of the economy, poor governance, barefaced corruption, and profligate expenditure at the expense of socio-economic and infrastructural development,” he said.
