Parliament Approves Budget Estimate for OSP
Parliament of Ghana has approved annual budget estimate of GHC149,005,669 for the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) for the year 2024.
Seconding the motion, Hon Kwame Ayimadu Antwi (MP) said this will help the OSP to outline his programmes and objectives for 2024 and also to get the necessary tools in order to fight corruption.
The ranking member for Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Hon Bernard Ahiafor criticised the government for not providing adequate resources to the OSP to fight corruption which has been an albatross to the country.
The motion was moved by the Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice Hon Diana Asonaba Dapaah.
On the other hand, the Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu moved a motion for the annual budget estimate for Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for an amount of GHC9,423,774.
Seconding the motion, Chairman of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr kwame Ayimadu Antwi said this will help the ministry in a long way to contribute to the national efforts at securing for the present and future generations, the blessings of liberty, equality of opportunity and prosperity in a united stable country within the election year.
