Govt to Commission 50 Agenda 111 Hospitals in 2024

The Majority in Parliament says the government will commission the first fifty of the Agenda 111 hospitals by the middle of the year 2024.

“Mr Speaker, by middle of next year, I am not bragging, we will commission the first fifty of these agenda 111 hospitals and think is a good news,” said Vice Chairman of the Health Committee of Parliament, Patrick Boakye Yiadom

“Mr Speaker, as my chairman said, the Agenda 111 hospitals, is the construction of hospitals in all the 16 regions. Mr Speaker, that consists of about 102 districts hospitals, seven (7) regional hospitals, two (2) regional psychiatric hospitals and one (1) National psychiatric hospital.”

The initiative, inaugurated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on August 17, 2021, aims to construct a total of 111 district hospitals throughout the country to improve access to healthcare.

Mr Patrick Boakye Yiadom in his debate on the 2024 Budget, said the health facilities will run a 24-hour service when commissioned.

“Mr Speaker, the hospitals will run a 24-hour service. When this initiative was first announced by his Excellency the President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo three years ago, the doubters in their usual manner said it was not possible and is not surprising since we know them very well, because free SHS to them was not possible, national health insurance to them was not possible, Nana Akufo-Addo becoming a president was not also possible to them. Mr Speaker, myself and my colleagues on this side say it is possible.”

“I am telling you Ghanaians have recovered from short memory syndrome and we are getting more discerning.”

He further indicated that any parliamentarian who is a true representative of his people will not criticise the project.
