Bawumia Wins NPP-USA Elections

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumi,a has won an election by the United States of America (USA) branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to determine the candidate to endorse for the November 4 Presidential Primary of the party.

He won by 208 votes representing 77.04%.

The branch holds 12 votes in the soon-to-be-conducted primary and all 12 votes will go to the Vice President per its constitution.

His fierce contender Kennedy Agyapong secured 66 votes representing 22.22% with the remaining two candidates Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh securing one vote each. (https://boxmining.com)

“In adherence to our winner-take-it-all policy, we declare that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be the recipient of the complete endorsement of NPP-USA’s twelve delegate votes in the upcoming election on November 4th.”

The delegates of the NPP will this Saturday go to the polls to elect a flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 General election.

With the flagbearer, the NPP will be seeking to extend their rule to 12 years in what has been termed as “Breaking the 8”.

Their Presidential aspirant will face former President John Dramani Mahama from the side of the country’s largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Launching his campaign in March, he said he will leverage on his former position as President to make the country a better place.
