ECG Queries Staff Implicated In “Power Thieves” Documentary
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued a query to one Abraham Kum, an artisan, over his alleged role in the illegal sale of meter in the country as aired in a documentary titled “Power Thieves”.
The suspect and other staff members of the Company appeared in the video selling unapproved meters to prospective customers to enable them enjoy free electricity.
These meters were sold at GH₵2,500, according to the documentary.
In reaction to this, the Company issued a query to one of the suspects.
“The said footage revealed your involvement in dealing with an alleged customer who gave you money for the acquisition of a meter.
“Your action in the footage is intolerable offence contrary to the Company’s Collective Agreement, Appendix A (I, X and XVI). You are therefore to explain in writing why disciplinary action should not be taken against you for the stated misconduct,” the query dated October 9, 2023 read.
It also demanded that his response be addressed to the Director of Human Resources at the Accra East ECG office, Paul A Okine by Friday, 13th October, 2023
