Asamoah Gyan Impressed By Kudus Growth At West Ham
Retired Ghana international Asamoah Gyan is impressed by the advancement in West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus.
The former captain of the Black Stars shared his observation in a series of tweets on Sunday after the Hammers’ draw against Newcastle United in the English Premier League where Kudus made his fifth appearance.
According to him, the 23-year-old has advanced in his movements, reception and distribution of ball and has the chance of becoming a world-class player if he pushes on.
“I have seen some big changes in Kudus play. He is beginning to understand how to move into spaces to receive the ball and releasing the ball at the right time. If he continues like this consistently, he will be a world class player.”
Kudus has made eight appearances across all competitions scoring three goals in the process since joining premier league side late in August.
Except for two games, all his appearances were as a sub.
Kudus went on as a substitute when West Ham was down by a goal and leveled the score line with his 89th minute strike which found the back of the net.
Calls To Start
Coach David Moyes in his own wisdom has decided to play former Ajax signing as a sub in the EPL despite his impressive performance on the ball and demands by fans.
Asamoah Gyan has, however, given a nod to Moyes’ way of managing the €44.5 million player.
“The coach is managing him very well,” he said as recalled his own experience at Sunderland.
“I had the same situation when I moved to Sunderland. Fans didn’t understand why a record-signing player should be coming on as a sub and kept proving himself. Steve Bruce made me understand that he didn’t want to put too much pressure on me, and that the right moment will come. It came, and I took it.”
