Black Queens Coach Satisfied But Says Lot To Be Done

The head coach of the Black Queens, Nora Hauptle has expressed her satisfaction with the performance of the senior national women’s team after their win against Rwanda’s She-Amavubi in the second leg of their Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier in Accra.

At a post-match press conference, the Swiss football manager said she was happy but highlighted that more needed to be done to shape the team.

According to her, the opponents are unpredictable thereby positions of the players must be changed to match up.

She said it was in this faith that midfielder Stella Nyamekye was put up as a fullback during the Queen’s 5:0 win against Rwanda on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Going into the next round of qualifiers, Nora believes a lot needs to be worked out on the players to secure them the victory needed against Namibia in November.

“We are happy…we’ve passed through the next round game. We are satisfied but still, there is a lot to do…Although I’m satisfied ut there are still a lot of details we have to work on,” she told the press.

A hattrick from Alice Kusi within the interval of 22, 4 and 11 minutes respectively from the blast of the whistle put the Queens ahead of their opponents in the first half.

Evelyn Badu and Stella Nyamekye also registered their names on the scoresheet after half-time to see off Rwanda.

This gives Coach Nora’s side a 12-0 aggregate score in the qualifier after their 7:0 win against the She-Amavubi in their home last week.

On the result, Coach Nora who took over the team in January 2023 said, “We always work on the performance and then we put a good performance on the pitch and the result will follow.”
