NPP “Regrets” Alan Pull Out

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it “regrets” the context within which Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, one of the ten who sought to lead the party into the 2024 General elections has withdrawn from the race.

The former Minister for Trade and Industry cited “intimidation”, “manipulation” and skewing of the Super Delegates Conference results for his decision to pull out of the race on September 5.

“After having carefully analysed the results of the said elections, it is absolutely clear to me from events leading to, during and after the elections, that the Special Delegates Conference was strategically and tactically skewed in favour of one particular Aspirant. The pronouncements made by some leading Members of our Party both before and after the elections, also lend weight to my observations,” a statement he put out alleged.

He further alleged delegates in the Super Delegates Conference were subjected to “intimidation of varying intensity, directly and indirectly”. Further, he said the decision was in the interest of his supporters as he is “committed to, and value safety”.

The NPP through its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, acknowledged the receipt of his withdrawal letter saying, “We note with regret Hon Kyerematen’s decision to withdraw from the upcoming Presidential Primaries.”

The party disclosed it was handling all reported incidents during the election last month.

“We wish to reassure all stakeholders and the general public that the reports of the aforementioned committees will be made readily available and persons who may be found culpable of any wrongdoing will be held accountable.”
