Hopes In Paquetá Move To City Dashed Over Release Clause Invalidity- Report
West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paquetá will remain with the Club following a report that his release clause is invalid this season.
According to Spanish Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, his release clause will be valid in June 2024 at £85 million.
Manchester City has shown interest in the midfielder and has proposed a £70m fee for him but West Ham doesn’t appear to be interested in the deal.
In a social media post, Romano reported, “Lucas Paquetá release clause, not valid this summer. The clause is worth £85m and is understood to be valid only from June 2024. Paquetá would love to join Man City but West Ham have no intention to accept the £70m fee discussed this week.”
The 25-year-old joined West Ham in June 2022 after his impressive spell at Lyon with 21 goals and 13 assists in 80 games.
At West Ham, he has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 41 games.
He also won the Europa Conference League with the Club.
