Asante Kotoko Mourns Late Former Player

The Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has released a tribute for its former player, Dogo Moro.

The Club is “saddened” by his passing which occurred on Tuesday, May 3 at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

In a Facebook post, the Club honoured the late defender with a picture of his youth and old age calling him a legend.

It wrote, “Saddened by the passing of our 1970 Caf Champions Cup winner and a Stalwart Defender, Dogo Moro. Journey well LEGEND.”


Until his death, he was reported to be the only surviving member of the squad that won Asante Kotoko its first Ghana League title in 1958.

He was among the Asante Kotoko squad that won the CAF Champions League in 1979.

He also played for the Black Stars. His contribution led to Ghana’s victory in the Africa Cup of Nations in 1963 and 1965 now the Africa Cup of Nations (CAF).

In a tribute, the official website of the Black Stars said he is the greatest sweeper in the history of African football.

 

“Rest in Peace Legend 🖤🕊️,” the post said.
