Asanteman Boils With Cheers As Otumfuo Cruises To Palace
Kumasi was a spectacle to behold as Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II cruised to the Manhyia Palace in his Rolls-Royce Phantom II following his arrival from the United Kingdom (UK) on Saturday.
Some welcomers on horses, motorbikes, cars, and foot escorted the king to the Palace as he plied selected routes in the city.
Crowds including students of Islamic Senior High School, Anglican Senior High School (SHS) and Asante Students Union (ASU) paraded along roads to wave flags of the Asante Kingdom in welcoming Otumfuo amid resounding cheers.
From the Kumasi Airport where his flight arrived around 5 pm, he passed through Dichemso, Suame roundabout, Abrepo Junction, Bantama, Komfo Anokye, Kejetia, Dr Mensah, Apagyafie, and finally made his way to the Manhyia Palace.
Otumfuo ended his procession before 7 pm.
At the Manhyia Palace, chiefs, queen mothers, religious leaders and many others were ready to pay homage to the King.
A surprise birthday celebration has been organised for Otumfuo.
The King and his wife have returned from a trip to the United Kingdom (UK) particularly to partake in the coronation of King Charles III.
