The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into the killing of a constable by a senior police officer in the Western North Region.
The incident occurred on Friday, May 5, 2023, after the two had arrived from an operation, a statement from the Ghana Police Service said.
The victim has been identified only as a police constable whereas the perpetrator was identified as a senior police officer stationed at the Western North Regional Police Command.
The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital.
Following this, a team of police officials led by the Commissioner of Police Mrs Habiba Twumasi Sarpong, was deployed to the region to assess the situation.
Another team was dispatched to formally inform the family of the deceased about the incident on Saturday, May 6.
It is not yet known what provoked the senior officer to commit the crime but the Ghana Police Service says he has been arrested for further investigations.
Meanwhile, clinical psychologists have been provided for the family of the deceased officer and the officers at the Western North Police Command.
This comes barely a month after a police Inspector shot and killed a lady alleged to be his girlfriend five times in Kumasi.
