GFA Says It Does Not Owe Sellas Tetteh Bonuses

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has stated that the country does not owe the former coach of Black Satellites, Sellas Tetteh, bonuses or salaries.

The clarification was given when the President of the Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku led a delegation to visit the former coach and make some donations to him.

It was reported recently that the FA owed Mr Tetteh some bonuses from the 2009 World Cup victory he led the country.

It was reported that the coach who is now ill had been chasing the GFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the bonuses.

But during the GFA Foundation’s visit on Thursday, April 20 Kurt Okraku clarified that the FA did not owe him anything.

“He (Kurt) took the opportunity to clarify recent news in the media to the effect that the GFA or the Ministry of Youth and Sports owes the coach some bonuses and salaries,” the FA’s website reported.

The FA President stated that all entitlements including vehicles promised to the team after the FIFA U-20 World Cup triumph has been fulfilled.

The recently established Foundation of the FA donated an amount of Fifty Thousand Cedis (GHS50,000.00) to him.

He is the first to benefit from the foundation- which has been established to enhance the living conditions of former footballers who might be in needy situations as a result of old age, ill health, injury or general deprivation.

Sellas Tetteh was Ghana’s U-20 team coach from 2008 to 2010.

In 2009, he led the team to win the U-20 World Cup tournament and was named the CAF coach of the year.

He also coached Rwanda and Sierra Leone senior national teams.

The delegation included Michael Osekere, and the Greater Accra Regional Football Association Chairman, Samuel Aboabire.
