Mahama Promises To Fight Corruption With Governance Advisory Council In 2025
Former President John Dramani Mahama is promising to wage an unrelenting war against corruption in governance if he is given the mandate to become President once again in the 2024 general elections.
He intends to set up a Governance Advisory Council in 2025 to see to this if he becomes the President.
Among other things, he said, the Council will improve political governance, help curb corruption and ensure the respect for human rights in the country.
He explained, “Every year, the Council will release a report on the state of human rights, corruption, and a report on our governance, which will serve as a guide for government to know whether we are on the right track with regards to issues of governance, corruption, human rights, media, and other freedoms including torture and crime”.
Members of the Council, he indicated, will compose of representatives of civil society organisations, religious leaders, traditional leaders, and ordinary Ghanaians.
He said this while addressing National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives and supporters as part of his campaign to lead his party to the 2024 elections.
Mr Mahama is seeking a comeback as Ghana’s President. He is currently contesting at the party level and then subsequently at the national level if given the mandate in the Presidential Primaries of the opposition NDC.
