2023 WASSCE Slated For July 31
The 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will take place from July 31 to September 26, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has communicated.
It appears Ghanaian candidates will sit WASSCE alone this year as their fellow candidates from the sub-region will take their exam much earlier.
This comes as the Council opens its portal today, Wednesday, March 15 for the registration of WASSCE School Candidates this year.
The registration portal will be closed next month on the 19th day.
Candidates are to pay GH¢381.24 as the approved registration fee for entry in 7 or 8 subjects.
This fee is exclusive of the fees for practical or oral tests which range between GH¢14.50 and GH¢19.50 per practical test, the Council noted.
In all, WAEC is expecting 978 schools to present candidates for this year’s examination.
Candidates With Special Educational Needs
Candidates with disabilities will be given test accommodation arrangements, the Council said.
It noted that requests for access arrangements for such candidates with accompanying medical reports should be forwarded to the Council by May 2.
Timetable
The Council said the timetable for the exam will be made available on its website.
“Candidates are advised to contact their schools or visit the WAEC website for the accurate timetable.”
It also cautioned candidates to refrain from downloading timetables from unverifiable websites.
Revision of WASSCE Rules
The Council has also revised its rules and regulations in dealing with cases of irregularity in WASSCE.
They affect the destruction of Exhibits; Posting Live Questions on the Internet; Refusal to grant timely access to the school premises; and Misconduct of examination officials.
Heads of schools have been directed to sensitise their candidates on the revision to create awareness.
