Ya-Na Denies Saying “It’s Alans’ Turn”
The paramount chief of Dagbon, Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II, has denied endorsing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential hopeful, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.
On Monday, February 20, 2023, the former Trade Minister called on Ya-Na at the Gbewa Palace in Yendi to officially inform him about his presidential bid.
Reports quote the Ya-Na as saying it was Alan’s turn to lead the NPP.
“It’s your turn”, he is quoted by a lot of media outlets to have said and added after waving a stack of one cedi notes, “your first task as leader of this country will be to restore the economy so that the one cedi note can be used again. The one cedi note is important to our people”.
In a press statement, Abdul Rahaman Mohammed, secretary to the paramount chief said Ya-Na never made that statement as propagated in the media.
“His Majesty wish to state categorically that he made no such claim.”
He noted that he deems all aspirants as his children and wishes them all well.
He also emphasised that the doors of his palace are open to everyone.
