2022 BECE: Over 400 Candidates’ Results Cancelled
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released provisional results for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with over four hundred subject results cancelled.
The results were released on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
Candidates can access their results online on the website of the Council.
In a press statement, WAEC said 419 subject results of candidates were cancelled for entering the examination hall with foreign materials or colluding with other candidates.
Out of the number, 416 are school candidates whereas 3 are private candidates.
On the other hand, 38 Subject results of candidates have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged examination malpractices.
Also, the entire results of 75 candidates have been cancelled- including 73 school candidates and 2 private candidates.
Additionally, the entire results of 11 candidates have been withheld.
WAEC further disclosed that scripts of students from 40 schools in certain subjects are undergoing scrutiny for a final verdict following an ongoing investigation.
It added, “the Council is cautioning all stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated”.
According to data from the Council, 552,288 school candidates entered to sit the 2022 national exam, however, 4,309 were absent.
1,144 entered to sit as private candidates.
