X’mas: Simon Osei Mensah Outlines Security Plans For Region
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah has highlighted plans put in place to safeguard security of residents in the region ahead of the Christmas festivities.
He relayed them when he appeared before the members of the Regional House of Chiefs at their last meeting of the year on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
Among the measures in place include deployment of various security personnel to critical venues and a clamp down on road indiscipline.
“First of all we have directed the Fire Service to position officer in every market in the region. We have directed the MMDCEs to designate a place for the officers.
“Some of the firefighters will be assigned to hospitals and electricity installations in the region.
“Additionally we have begun arresting errant drivers and riders- riders without registration numbers, without helmets and carrying more than one pillion riders. Last two weeks we arrested some and we will continue,”he told the House.
He said the clamp down on road indiscipline targets tricycles, motorcycles, and cars.
He also said police and military officers will be put out on the various streets to undertake patrol activities.
