Social Media Content Creators Arrested For Using Police Uniform
Two social media content creators are in the grips of the police for allegedly using a police uniform unlawfully.
The two who are said to own an online TV channel by the name Vzonetv, have been identified as Marcus Dankwah and Pascal Nelson.
They were arrested after the circulation of video footage which showed Marcus in a police uniform engaged in a scuffle with Pascal.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the said video footage, which originated from a TikTok account identified as the official page of Vzonetv and shared on various social media platforms, was taken on October 18, 2022”, a report from the police said.
In the said video which was taken by a roadside, Marcus had seized the car key of Pascal. The heated argument between the two which almost ended in a fight ensued as Pascal tried to forcefully secure his car key back.
Reactions under the post on Tiktok were in favour of the civilian.
“This has happened to my brother before until he slapped the police twice then he handled the key 😂🔑”, reads one comment under the video posted by Vzonetv on Twitter.
“The uniform saved this guy…like he go chop am wotowoto😂”, another said.
“you can see the driver has tried his best to restrain his patience”, reads another comment.
“New recruit”, another said.
The police in reaction to this, noted, “the person seen in the attire, Marcus Dankwah, is not a Police officer”.
The Ghana Police Service says it is yet to ascertain how the two got hold of the uniform.
“The investigation also revealed the suspects are social media content providers who produce videos for their online TV channel Vzonetv. As the investigation continues to establish the source of the attire and prepare the suspects to face justice, we would like to caution the public against acts that tend to injure the reputation of the Ghana Police Service.”
Meanwhile, the police have retrieved the uniform.
