Ghana, UN To Sign New Cooperation Framework
The government of Ghana and the United Nations (UN) are expected to sign a new cooperation framework later this month.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSCDF) will be signed on October 25, 2022, and will be effective from 2023 to 2025.
The instrument is the tool for planning and implementing UN development activities at the national level.
This will fall on the 77th UN anniversary and will be held at the forecourt of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that the flags of Ghana and the UN will be hoisted right after the signing, “which will affirm Ghana’s continuous support for global peace and the Organisation”.
In a press statement, the Ministry said it will collaborate with key partners including the United Nations Office in Ghana and all relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to observe the anniversary.
The event will also be attended by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, UN Resident Coordinator, Charles Abani, the security services, members of the diplomatic community, Heads of the UN agencies, Representatives of CSOs/NGOs, youth groups and students.
The events to mark the anniversary also include a parade and a dinner at the residence of the UN Resident Coordinator, Charles Abani.
