2022 OCRC: Maakro, Adum, Obuasi, Kotei & Tafo Left Standing

The second edition of the Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge (OCRC) has graduated from the kick-out stage to the final stage.

The competition now has five contestants standing.

They are Antwi Boasiako Tiwaa, representative of Maakro, Henrietta Diyour, representative of Obuasi, Melissa B. Saed, representative of Adum, Francisca B. Mensah, representative of Kotei and Lordina S. Agyapong, representative of Tafo.

The all-female finalists battled their way out of 60 contestants representing some sixty communities in the Ashanti region in the 2022 edition of OCRC.

The second edition of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation’s Community Reading Challenge began on March 29, 2022, with four thousand six hundred and twenty (4, 620) students battling to be part of 60 contestants.

3,003 representing 65% were females whilst 1,617 representing 35% were males from some nine hundred and seventy (970) schools within sixteen (16) districts in the Ashanti Region.

The Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge is an initiative of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF), a non-governmental organisation of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The competition is an English and Twi reading challenge meant to promote and imbibe the spirit of reading in Junior High School students.

“Promoting English and Twi reading in Asanteman”, is the theme for this year’s competition.
