Korle Bu Institutes Covid Protocols Over Surge In Cases
The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has reinstated the COVID-19 pandemic protocols for staff, patients and their relatives.
A memo from the Director of Medical Affairs to the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital charged heads of Units, Directorates, Departments and Sub BMCs (UDS) to ensure all the protocols are observed at entry points to OPD, wards, offices and waiting areas within the hospital.
This follows a surge in COVID cases among staff and patients in the hospital according to the memo.
“Surveillance data from the Public Health Unit from the Hospital indicates that from the week ending 11th September 2022 to week ending 23rd September 2022 the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has risen from 3 to 45”, part of the memo read.
In response to this, a vaccination exercise was conducted by the Public Health Unit from 22nd to 25th September in all UDS for staff, patients and their relatives.
Now persons entering the hospital will have to observe mask-wearing, hand hygiene, and social distancing.
