Over 1,600 Chinese Repatriated Since 2009
One thousand six hundred and forty-one (1,641) Chinese nationals have been arrested and repatriated back to China since 2009, a document published by Graphic Online says.
They were engaged in illegal mining, it reported.
According to the online portal, the figures are from the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
The document shows that during the eight-year reign of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government headed by John Evan Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama, 1,018 Chinese were repatriated.
In 2011, there was zero Chinese repatriation.
From 2017 till August 2022 which marks the administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Mahamudu Bawumia, 623 Chinese have been repatriated.
