GACL Revises COVID Guidelines At KIA

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has revised its COVID-19 guidelines at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for the fifteenth time.

Ghanaians & Foreign Residents
Per the revision, fully vaccinated Ghanaians and foreign residents aged 18 years and above will not be required to undertake the compulsory PCR test on their embarkation and arrival in Ghana.

Single-vaxxed Ghanaians and foreign residents will, however, be required to present a negative 48 hrs PCR test before embarkation as well as undergo a PCR test upon arrival in the country.

The unvaccinated and partially vaccinated will undergo vaccination at KIA.

Non-Ghanaians
Non-Ghanaians are required to show evidence of full vaccination to airlines before embarkation.

The consequences of failing at this will be borne by the airline which will pay a penalty of USD3,500.

Persons who arrive with forged vaccination certificates will be quarantined and deported at their own cost, the GACL noted.

Transiting Passengers
The GACL says persons who choose to transit through Ghana will be subjected to covid testing requirements.

They will also be required to provide evidence of full vaccination.

Exemption
Unvaccinated Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians below 18 years will not be required to undertake PCR tests both before and upon arrival at KIA.

Additionally, airline crew are exempted from pre-departure and arrival COVID-19 PCR tests.

Finally, passengers who arrive in the country under an emergency such as flight diversion are exempted from testing.
