Odike, Oyerepa FM, Others To Appear Before Kumasi Traditional Council On Monday
The Kumasi Traditional Council has today given a summon to the Founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Kwasi Adae Odike, the management and morning show host of a Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM to appear before the council on Monday, August 29, 2022, at the Manhyia Palace.
Asenso Kuffuor Ababio, the chief of Adwumakaase Kese, and the head of Odike’s family today appeared before the council, which is presided over by Bantamahene Baafuo Owusu Amankwaatia IV, asking for two weeks break so that Odike, who is at the center of the matter, can recover from a rumored attack by gunmen who stormed his office on Monday, August 22, 2022.
However, the council turned down their request given Odike Monday to appear before the Traditional Council on Monday.
Management of Oyerepa FM also appeared before their council to render their apology to the Kumasi Traditional Council for Odike’s action.
The management include; Founder of the radio station, Mr. Kofi Agyemang, the General Manager, Mr. Otuo Acheampong, the Programmes Manager, Afia Nyarko, and the morning show host, Nana Yaw Mensah Joel among others.
Nonetheless, their apology was turned down by the traditional council members. According to them, their action does not show remorsefulness.
They have therefore been scheduled to appear before the Kumasi Traditional Council on Monday together with Akwasi Addai Odike, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, and the head of the Ashanti Regional Security Council on Monday, August 29.
Odike has been accused of recent comments he made against chiefs in the Ashanti Region. Akwasi Addai Odike in a recent interview on Oyerepa FM criticised chiefs within the Asante Kingdom for failing to help end illegal mining activities in the region.
He has been accused of threatening to incite the youth to rise against the chiefs if they fail to play their roles in curbing the illegal mining menace. His comments, however, have been described as distasteful and disrespectful by members of the Kumasi Traditional Council.
