Traders Cry Over Heaps Of Refuse At Suame

Market women at Suame market have expressed worry over heaps of waste that have littered the entire market which has been causing them sickness every day and night.

The stench, according to them is unbearable and there are fears of a possible outbreak of cholera if the situation remains unchanged. “Good smells and good eating have become very expensive to us in the marketplace”, they said.

According to the market women, due to the poor situation in the market, businesses have been brought to a stand-still each day.

They called on the authorities to help with containers and do maintenance in the market to ease the burden for them.

They are, therefore, appealing to the government to come to their rescue.

A furniture maker near the refuse dump said it is unfortunate that the government has abandoned them to suffer as a result of the deplorable nature of the road and heaps of refuse dumps.

He said people walking cannot easily access the road due to the deplorable condition and dumping of refuse.
