MoMo Transactions, Active MoMo Accounts, Active MoMo Agents Reduced In June 2022
The Bank of Ghana’s recent Summary of Economic and Financial Data has indicated that the total number of Mobile Money (MOMO) transactions, active MoMo accounts, and active MoMo agents have dipped.
Total MoMo Transactions
378 million transactions were carried out with Mobile Money (MoMo) in June 2022, a reduction in the total number of MoMo transactions compared to May 2022.
In May 2022, a total of 382 million MoMo transactions were carried out.
Despite the reduction in the total number of transactions, the BoG’s data showed that the value of MoMo transactions in June 2022, increased compared to May 2022.
In June 2022, the value of MoMo transactions increased to 77.4 billion cedis as against 71.4 billion cedis recorded in May, when the Electronic Transfer Levy took force.
Active Accounts
The number of registered MoMo accounts in June 2022, increased from 50.7 million in May 2022 to 51.0 million.
Nevertheless, the number of active accounts reduced from 19.1 million in May 2022 to 18.8 million in June 2022.
Active Agents
Also, the number of registered MoMo agents increased from 621 thousand in May 2022 to 625 thousand in June 2022, however, the number of active registered agents in June 2022 fell to 462 thousand, the same as May 2022.
