On Monday, July 4, 2022, teachers and non-teaching staff in the public pre-tertiary schools in a press conference in Accra declared an immediate industrial strike due to the Government’s failure to fulfill the payment of their 20% Cost -of -Living- Allowance.

The four unions included; Ghana National Association of Teachers, National Association of Graduate Teachers, Coalition of Concerned Teachers, and Teachers and Education Workers Union.

According to GNAT President, Rev. Owusu they have heard the National Labour Commission calling them to sit with the Government’s key stakeholders concerning their demands for them to change their decision.

Speaking to the media, he said, Government’s move to International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout is not their business as far as their demands are concerned.

Rev. Owusu indicated that, the Union members support their strike actions as it is their interests they are fighting for.
