8 Children Dead, 1 Missing After Boat Capsized At Faanaa- Bortianor

Eight children in Faanaa, an island in the Greater Accra, have drowned.

The pupils are said to have drowned in the late- afternoon of Wednesday when they were returning from school.

Twelve people including the boat owner were in the boat when the incident happened, killing 8 of them.

Although three people managed to swim to safety, one child is still missing.

The owner of the boat is currently in police custody as investigation into the incident commences.

He also revealed that the town has been thrown into a state of mourning following the incident.

Meanwhile, the deceased have been sent to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Police have also called on parents of the victims to go and identify their kin.
