5 Injured in Tema-Motorway Accident
Though no fatalities were recorded in a collision between a DAF Fuel Tanker and a Sprinter bus at Abattoir junction on the Tema-Accra motorway, five passengers in the commercial vehicle were left with various degrees of injuries.
The cause of the accident which left some passengers trapped is still under investigation.
It occurred around 7 am on Friday, July 19, 2024, between the VW Sprinter with registration number GE 8542-12 and the MAN Diesel Truck with registration number GN 8923-17, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed.
It took the intervention of personnel of the Service to rescue the trapped victims.
“At 0740 hours on Friday, July 19, 2024, the Motorway crew was dispatched by Fire Master Control to an accident at the Abattoir junction on the Tema-Accra motorway. Fortunately, the crash did not record any fatalities.”
The injured were conveyed to the Tema General Hospital.
The Service noted that the two occupants onboard the Man Diesel Truck escaped unhurt but had the head compartment of their truck partially damaged.
The commercial vehicle however had severe damage to its engine compartment and body.
