5 Convicted Deportees From USA Pose No Security Threat- Eswatini Govt

The Eswatini government has assured citizens that the deportation of “criminal illegal aliens” to the southern African kingdom won’t compromise national security.
In a statement released by Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli, the Government explained that these deportees are in transit and will be repatriated to their respective countries.
“The Nation is assured that these inmates pose no threat to the country or its citizens,” adding that all consequences were assessed, as well as consideration for the safety and security of citizens.
It said these followed months of robust high-level engagements among the United States Government and the Kingdom of Eswatini, resolving that the two Governments will collaborate with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to facilitate the transit of these inmates to their countries of origin.
“As a responsible member of the global community, the Kingdom of Eswatini adheres to international agreements and diplomatic protocols regarding the repatriation of individuals, ensuring that due process and respect for human rights are followed.”
The US Homeland Security Department Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, in an online post, said the deportees are nationals from Vietnam, Jamaica, Laos, Cuba and Yemen.
She said they had been convicted of crimes ranging from child rape to murder.
“This flight took individuals so uniquely barbaric that their home countries refused to take them back,” McLaughlin wrote on X.
