28 Advisory Boards for Health Training Institutions in Middle Belt Inaugurated

The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has inaugurated and sworn in 28 advisory boards for Health Training Institutions across the Middle Belt of Ghana, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through quality training.

Speaking at the ceremony in Kumasi, she noted that the Ministry of Health’s ability to deliver quality healthcare nationwide depends largely on the calibre of professionals produced by these institutions.

She emphasised the importance of prioritising strong governance, high standards, effective leadership, and long-term institutional development.

Hon. Ayensu-Danquah called on the newly sworn-in members to work towards building robust, reputable, and future-ready institutions that will continue to produce skilled, compassionate, and professional health workers for the country.

She urged stakeholders to “reset” their mindset and institutional approaches to align with current realities in the health sector.

She outlined three key expectations for the boards, beginning with the need to uphold good governance through transparency, accountability, and prudence in the management of resources.

She also encouraged them to champion quality by promoting academic excellence, maintaining high standards, and supporting continuous improvement in teaching, practical training, professional conduct, and student welfare.

The Deputy Minister further advised members to remain guided by purpose, reminding them that their decisions directly impact students and the millions of Ghanaians who will depend on the care provided by graduates.

She urged the boards to work collaboratively to advance the mandate of the institutions and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ghana’s healthcare system.
