216 Bags of Cocoa Beans Intercepted During Smuggling

A total of 216 bags of cocoa beans have been intercepted by the Anti-Cocoa Smuggling Taskforce in the last five weeks.
It comes after four separate operations at Zebila and Bolga in the Upper East Region en route to Togo.
In a statement, the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) said the recent operation was undertaken on July 5, 2025, during which the task force intercepted 15 more bags of cocoa beans at Maame Wata in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
It said several suspects have been arrested and are currently assisting police with investigations.
The COCOBOD in its statement urged Ghanaians to support the clampdown on smuggling.
“We urge all Ghanaians to support efforts to stop cocoa smuggling and help safeguard this vital national resource. Report suspicious persons to the nearest police station or the Ghana Cocoa Board. Together, we can protect the livelihood of our hardworking farmers and sustain Ghana’s cocoa legacy.”
