21 Victims Of Human Trafficking Repartriated

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced the repatriation of twenty-one (21) victims of human trafficking to their home country.

These persons were among some 28 Nigerians who were arrested on September 26, 2022, when the Office conducted a swoop at a house at Manhean, Obeyeyie in the Greater Accra Region.

After screening them, twenty-one emerged as human trafficking victims.

The remaining seven, however, appeared as cybercriminals.

The victims were repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday, October 12, 2022, the EOCO said at a press conference.

“The twenty-one (21) victims were however repatriated on Tuesday 11th October 2022 to Nigeria and have arrived safely. The repatriation of the victims was made possible with the help of an NGO, the Nigerian High Commission and the Ghana Immigration Service.”

Meanwhile, it said, the seven (7) suspects have been arraigned before court and charged with various offences including Human Trafficking.
