KATH Radiology Directorate Receives 16 Specialised Monitors Worth Over £51,000

The Radiology Directorate of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has received 16 specialised EIZO RadiForce radiology workstation monitors valued at over £51,000 from Worldwide Radiology, a UK-based medical imaging charity.
The donation is expected to significantly strengthen radiological services at the hospital by expanding the reporting capacity of radiologists, facilitating faster turnaround times for imaging reports and ultimately improving patient care.
It will also provide additional opportunities for the training of radiology resident doctors, contributing to the development of specialist medical imaging expertise in Ghana.
Dr Elizabeth Joekes, Founder of Worldwide Radiology, explained that the organisation is a non-profit, multidisciplinary charity dedicated to improving access to quality diagnostic imaging in low- and middle-income countries.
She noted that the charity has maintained a longstanding partnership with the KATH Radiology Directorate from January 2004 to October 2006, with both institutions collaborating over the years to build the capacity of imaging specialists in Ghana.
Dr E. Joekes, a former Head of the Radiology Directorate at KATH, added that the donation forms part of Worldwide Radiology’s continued commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through improved imaging technology and professional capacity development.
Receiving the monitors on behalf of hospital management, Dr Divine Amenuke, Head of the Medicine Directorate and Acting Medical Director of KATH, expressed the hospital’s appreciation to Dr Joekes and her team.
He described the donation as timely, noting that the Directorate had an urgent need for additional reporting workstations to address its increasing workload and expand its reporting capacity.
Dr (Mrs) Augustina Badu-Peprah, Head of the Radiology Directorate, said the specialised monitors would substantially enhance the Directorate’s capacity to review and report medical images efficiently.
She emphasised that improved reporting capacity would support timely clinical decision-making and facilitate better patient management.
She also expressed appreciation to the hospital’s management for procuring the computer system units required to support the installation and operationalisation of the donated monitors.
The donation underscores the importance of international partnerships in strengthening healthcare infrastructure, building specialist capacity and improving access to quality diagnostic imaging services at KATH and across Ghana.
