KMA Issues Eviction Notice To Commercial Drivers Around KATH, Gee Roundabout

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued an eviction notice to all commercial drivers operating around the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), particularly at the Gee Roundabout.

In a press release dated October 13, 2026, the Assembly expressed concern over unauthorised parking and loading activities by commercial drivers around the hospital enclave.

The Assembly has therefore directed all commercial drivers to cease loading and parking on the shoulders of the road from the 4th Battalion of Infantry (4BN) gate to the Gee Roundabout, on both sides of the road.

The directive, however, excludes the designated taxi rank in front of the Polyclinic within the KATH premises.

According to the statement, all affected commercial drivers have been given up to Friday, October 30, 2026, to vacate the unauthorised locations and return to their respective transport unions and approved loading points.

The Assembly cautioned that effective Sunday, November 1, 2026, a KMA task force will commence enforcement operations to clear the affected areas, and vehicles found violating the directive will be removed and detained in accordance with the Assembly’s enforcement procedures.

“The KMA strongly urges all affected drivers to comply with this directive within the stipulated period to ensure the free flow of traffic, improve road safety and maintain order around the hospital and its surrounding areas,” the statement said.

The Assembly also called for the cooperation of all transport unions, commercial drivers and the general public.
